Modern life can be pretty stressful. Although it’s considered fairly normal these days to feel stressed, it’s also important to be aware that prolonged stress can have some serious consequences for our health, wellbeing and overall quality of life.
And—even if your life is pretty balanced, periods of stress will eventually come along so it’s worth learning to manage stress better. At some point in all of our lives we can all start to feel overwhelmed, especially when something particularly challenging is thrown into the mix, like a break-up, a job loss or a health crisis. Before we know it, we may start to feel unable to cope with the demands of everyday life.
A little bit of stress can sometimes be helpful and galvanise us to achieve our goals, but it’s when we feel overwhelmed by stressful feelings we might start to feel helpless, unhappy and anxious. Stress can sometimes start to feel debilitating, and it can stand in the way of our happiness.
